Estimates only — your dating scan may adjust this by a few days. Dr. Ritika will confirm your dates at your first visit.
Most due dates use Naegele's rule: 280 days (40 weeks) from the first day of your last period, adjusted if your cycle is longer or shorter than 28 days. If you know your conception date, it's 266 days from then. For IVF, the count starts from the embryo transfer — 261 days for a day-5 embryo, 263 for a day-3.
Only about 4–5% of babies arrive on the exact due date — most come within two weeks either side. Think of it as a due window. Your first ultrasound gives the most accurate dating, especially if your cycles are irregular.
It gives a good estimate from your last period, but an early ultrasound (7–13 weeks) is more accurate. If the scan date differs by more than a week, doctors usually go with the scan.
You can, but the result is less reliable. Choose the 'conception date' option if you know it, or rely on your dating scan. Irregular cycles are also worth discussing — see our PCOS guide.
From the embryo transfer date: add 261 days for a day-5 (blastocyst) transfer or 263 days for a day-3 transfer. Select 'IVF transfer' above and enter your dates.
Going a few days over is common. After 40 weeks your doctor will monitor baby more closely and discuss induction, usually by 41–42 weeks. Dr. Ritika will plan this with you.
